Destination Detroit Guided Tours

Our Experience Will Make Your Detroit Tour Experience Memorable!

Welcome to Detroit – a world-class city with enough innovation and imagination to fuel a nation with  attractions, entertainment and character to charm even the most discerning urban explorer. Customize your own tour or choose from one of Destination Detroit Tours authentic city tours, along with your knowledgeable local guide, you will  experience the best the Motor City has to offer.

Get a unique  perspective on Detroit’s amazing architecture. Your guide will point out Art Deco skyscrapers and One Woodward, a precedent design for the original World Trade Center designed by Minoru Yamasaki and many more architecturally significant buildings designed by Albert Kahn and others. Detroit  is considered a hub for industrial design and the beating heart of creative industries in the state of Michigan. In the light of its industrial past, Detroit has built itself as a cradle of American contemporary design and as a global center for prolific designers, including Eames, Knoll, Saarinen and Yamasaki.

Stroll around captivating pieces of public art, including the Joe Louis Fist and the Spirit of Detroit by world famous sculptor artist Marshall Fredericks, and make sure to leave time to visit the Detroit Institute of Art, whether you have an hour or a day you not want to miss the DIA.  If you’re in need of retail therapy, explore Midtown and the many new shops along Woodward Ave. or Parkers Ally, and don’t forget to indulge in one of Detroit’s Coney Island restaurants; your guide will make sure you know how the local’s order!

Whether you want to take in a game at Comerica Park or Little Caesars Arena or a performance in the Entertainment District, or sing your heart out at Hitsville USA aka Motown, Kim will customize a Detroit city tour to suit your unique travel interests.

I can't say enough excellent things about our visit with Kim and Destination Detroit Tours. Our group of 7 fit comfortably in a beautiful van with a wonderful chauffeur and amenities. Since half of our group was French, Kim provided a headset and speaker for me to translate the tour. Before our tour, I provided a wish list of spots to see and Kim went above and beyond the call of duty. Her route was carefully planned out, not only hitting every spot we'd hoped, but also discovering plenty of hidden gems that we'd never heard of! Our international guests were in awe of the beautiful Detroit architecture and Kim's thorough narration of its rich history. As a metro-Detroit local for the past 25 years, I didn't realize how many secrets have yet to be discovered in Detroit. Thank you Kim!

STOP! This is the only review that you need to read. We are a family owned travel company in business since 1980 and we are located about one hour West of Detroit. We do a tremendous amount of business in Detroit, theater, museums, cultural events, and much more. We were looking to refresh and enhance our day tours of Detroit that would highlight the many new and ever changing facets of the city and about two years ago I found Destination Detroit Tours and Kim Rusinow. WOW one of the best finds of my travel career and keep in mind we tour throughout the world. Kim totally understands the components that go into planning a successful tour with a professional and smooth presentation, a calm demeanor, a wealth of current and accurate information and the ability to move groups of any size with confidence and control. I hesitated to write a review because I selfishly would like Kim to always be available for our tours, however she deserves to be recognized for the gem that she is and her contribution to the reformation of the best city in the state of Michigan. " DETROIT ROCKS" !!!We would highly recommend Kim and Destinaton Detroit to new visitors and to people like us who have lived in the suburban Detroit area all our lives, but want to get to know the city.

We recently used Destination Detroit Tours for a company event. Kim was amazing to work with and provide stellar service. All of our out of town guests raved about their experience and our local attendees said there wasn't one fact or story about Detroit that they heard that they knew before going. The tour was fun and engaging and the price was more than reasonable. We will definitely use them again!

Our group of 15 fun-loving seniors loved Kim's three hour tour of Detroit. We visited places we had not been to in decades, saw the fun, family centered activities on the River Walk and marveled at the friendliness of everyone we met. Kim's tour was the springboard for additional visits to other fascinating parts of the city...DIA, historic churches, Ford Piquette Plant, Motown Museum, Henry Ford complex and, of course, eating at many of Detroit’s well-known restaurants and some not-so-famous one’s. We all felt that Kim radiated the energy that Detroit is currently experiencing!

Northville Newcomers & Neighbors went on the Destination Detroit Tour and found it educational and very entertaining. We learned a lot about our City's history and we were amazed at all the changes going on in Detroit. Even those of us who frequent Detroit on a regular basis learned more about the neighborhoods, the new restaurants, as well as the construction going on. It's hard to keep up with the changes! Kim is on top of things--we would highly recommend her tour. We all have places we want to return to, so we can explore further!

Wow! My wife and I got a 5-star tour of Detroit with Kim last week. I must say that we've come away with a totally revised conception of Detroit. We now realize what a vibrant and revitalized city Detroit has become. We appreciate history, art, architecture and especially urban public green spaces. Well, Detroit has it all. The Detroit Riverwalk has preserved five miles of pristine frontage along the Detroit River, great for walking, cycling or bench sitting and watching the great lake shipping traffic go by. We toured Belle Isle, another gem preserved for public use which includes the oldest aquarium in the U.S. Kim showed us the magnificent Guardian Bank Building with Aztec motif, the magnificent Fisher Building with its amazing marble and granite construction. Next we visited the historic Indian Village neighborhood with its turn-of-the-century auto baron homes. When I expressed an interest in the historic Elmwood Cemetery, Kim modified the tour plan on the fly and gave us the highlight drive-through tour. (Don't miss the (intentionally) broken obelisk or the grave of the inventor of the sextant!) We toured the Corktown settlement which has been "hippified" by its influx of young professionals; lots on nice neighborhood houses, restaurants and pubs. Icing on the cake was seeing the Joe Louis arm sculpture and "Hitsville", the original home of Motown. The Detroit tour gets 5 stars and Kim gets 10 stars. If you're visiting Detroit, you should treat yourself to a city tour with Kim.

We are visiting Detroit from London for a week and are thoroughly enjoying it so far but wanted to get a more more in-depth, local perspecive of the city. We chose Destination Detroit because it offered a three hour private tour of the historic neighbourhoods. We discused with Kim our interest in the city's regeneration over recent years and particularly ground-up citizen initiatives, including urban farming. Kim was the perfect host, very knowledgeable and very accommodating. She took us around a wide range of neighbourhoods, some of which are still suffering from their troubled past, some which are starting to be restored and others which are at the forefront of the city's renaissance. The tour was inspiring and exactly what we were looking for. We highly recommend Kim for any visitors who want to get to know this great city.
